I though...Thank you, Anonymous, for your comments! I thought at first the houses were concrete because of typhoons, too, but there are many reasons for building out of concrete. Where I live in Sasebo gets a lot of typhoons, but everyone builds with wood and paper, which is easy to rebuild I think.<br /><br />I'm glad you like Okinawan doughnuts! It's very different from the delicate porcelain of this area (Arita, home of Imari and Noritake, among others).
